How can I be sure that I will find the right, qualified specialist for my project in the skilled and certified crafts?

Three points are particularly important to us at Helferei to ensure a good fit between you and the helpers in carpentry:

  • Proven knowledge & qualifications: Especially in carpentry and for interior work areas that require professional specialization, we pay attention to proven knowledge and experience. We check this for all helpers. We often work with subcontractors and partner companies for jobs that need to be carried out by a specialist (e.g. painting and floor laying work, electrics). More about this in our terms of use.
  • Availability in terms of time and location: In addition to technical knowledge, another issue in the skilled and specialized crafts is availability. In terms of time and location. If possible, we will accommodate your schedule and any urgencies. We know how difficult it is to get support in specialized carpentry.
  • Costs and their predictability: In our online booking system, you have the best possible overview of the costs depending on the duration booked. What's more, you never pay for time that wasn't needed - after each job, you and your helpers have 24 hours to adjust the booking duration. Only then will the invoice be generated. When working with subcontractors and partner companies, you will receive a quote for the flat rates incurred. Only when you agree to this will an order be placed.
Do I have to pay attention to certain special features when making bookings in the area of carpentry, repairs or renovations?

Please note the following: Especially in areas where a crafts or carpenter certification is required (electronics, flooring, painting etc.), communicating as many details as possible benefits the quality of the results of an order - for example:

Such information is not only extremely helpful when selecting suitable helpers. Certain helpers might accept or reject your assignment precisely because they (do not) have the necessary tools.

Above all, however, this information serves to ensure good preparation and smooth implementation of your order.

So don't use the information field in your online booking or give us a call so that your order is perfectly prepared.

What are the steps to repair a dent in my car?

You will receive an invoice for all jobs, which you can use to deduct up to 20 percent of your expenses for handymen services from your taxes at the end of the year. You will find the invoice 24 hours after completing your job in your profile under the "documents" tab. It serves as a receipt that you can submit with your tax return. This will reduce your tax liability by this amount.

For more complex jobs, such as laying floors and tiles, or painting and electrical work, we often work with qualified subcontractors. As a rule, they first come for an inspection. You will then receive an offer for a lump sum, including all the details of its composition. If you accept this, the order will be placed.

We try to estimate the final amount as accurately as possible. However, we ask for your understanding that it is sometimes not possible to predict all details precisely in carpentry.

How much does it cost to hire a handyman from Helferei?

The services in the area of carpentry, DIY, repair and renovation start at € 32.00 per hour (incl. VAT) in the area of furniture assembly. In rare cases and depending on the respective handyman, an additional VAT of 19 percent may apply.

Services are billed every 30 minutes from one hour. After completing a job, you can adjust the booking duration to the time you actually need. This means you never pay for something you didn't need.

In addition, there is a one-off booking and matching fee of €3.90 (incl. VAT). This fee is charged once after the first order for one-off and regular bookings.

You will receive an invoice for all orders, which you can use to deduct up to 20% of your expenses for handymen services from your taxes at the end of the year. The invoice serves as a receipt that you can submit with your tax return. This reduces your tax liability by this amount.

What do I do if I don't know exactly how long my carpentry & DIY order will take?

That's no problem at all - the invoice is always based on the actual duration of the order. So you don't have to worry about paying for something you haven't received.

However, your cooperation is very important for this:

  • After completing an assignment, both you and your helpers have 24 hours to adjust the booking duration on our platform to the actual duration of the assignment.
  • To do this, click on the relevant booking details in your profile and then on the pencil icon "Change booking".
  • This gives you the opportunity to adjust the time or duration of an order.

The invoice is only generated automatically after 24 hours, thereby triggering payment.

Do the handymen bring their own tools and equipment?

Most of our handymen in the carpentry & DIY are equipped with the usual tools and aids for regular jobs.

Is it very technical or do you have specific requirements for light bulbs, siphons, awnings, tiles, screws, dowels, etc.? No problem, in these cases there are two options:

  • Provide tools and aids yourself: You provide or purchase the required materials before your helpers are deployed. This ensures that you have everything you need to successfully complete the assignment.
  • You book additional time for the procurement of materials and aids: In this case, your helping hand will take care of it. This can be booked as an additional option on our platform. If you choose this option, as much time as you wish will be scheduled in addition to the job. The costs for the materials themselves will be reimbursed to the helpers on the basis of the receipt provided.

It is very important that you communicate transparently with your helpers in advance, especially regarding resources and possible material costs. This way, everyone is as well prepared as possible and your assignment can be carried out to everyone's complete satisfaction without any surprises.

What do I do if I am not satisfied with the result of a carpentry order?

There are two options here:

  • Agreement between you and the handyman: Either come to an agreement directly with the craftsman or craftswoman immediately after the job has been completed. By the way: a possible and fair adjustment of the invoice amount for both sides can be part of this agreement. You would simply have to communicate this to the handyman.
  • Mediation of a fair solution by the Helferei: If this does not work out, you can contact the Helferei at any time by phone or email. We support both sides in finding a fair solution. Please contact our customer service: support@die-helferei.de

Small but important tip: In general, we can only emphasize how important communication between you and your helpers is before the start of the job, especially in the handymen and craft sector. Don't be afraid to discuss all relevant details and open questions in advance - there's no such thing as a stupid question! Experience has shown that this is very beneficial for everyone's satisfaction. At the very latest, you should clarify any discrepancies or misunderstandings before invoicing.

Are the craft services insured by Helferei ?

We personally select all our helpers. Before we activate their profiles on our platform, we check their identity, verify their talents and their business registration or tax number. Where necessary, we provide support with the registration process.

As registered self-employed persons, we then place our helpers in your neighborhood.

This means that they do not work for us and that all service contracts are concluded directly between you as a customer and our helping hands. Helferei acts purely as an intermediary. This means that our helpers are themselves responsible for complying with the relevant safety and insurance precautions for assignments. For particularly complex jobs or very valuable items, we recommend that you check with the respective handyman or carpenter whether the relevant insurance cover is in place.

What does Helferei do to ensure customers' trust in the handymen?

As a matter of principle, we select all our helpers personally.

On the one hand, we look at the individual person: Before we activate a profile on our platform, we not only check the identity of the helpers, but also their talents and experience. Especially in the area of domestic help, we ask for relevant previous experience. This allows us to match our helpers with our customers at any time with a clear conscience. For example, if someone does not upload their own proof of identity, this person will not appear in our pool of service providers and therefore cannot be booked.

Secondly, we check the administrative side: We ensure that we record all important data on the tax situation (e.g. craft license) and insurance status. If important information is missing, we will either help you to obtain it. If this is not possible and cooperation by legal means is therefore not possible, we refrain from working with the person in question.

This will be sent directly to qualified helpers in your area who can apply for it. You will receive the support proposal by email. Log in to your profile and accept it!

Our helpers will carry out your job according to your wishes. Your invoice will be generated 24 hours after the job is completed according to the actual job duration and payment will be triggered.

Financial advantage

You can deduct up to 20% of your expenses from your tax bill at the end of the year. Your total tax liability is therefore automatically reduced by this amount.
