What tasks does a domestic help or cleaner from Helferei take on?

A domestic helper or cleaner from Helferei the regular and thorough cleaning of your apartment or house—tailored to your individual needs. This includes classic tasks such as vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and cleaning the bathroom, as well as many other household-related activities.

Our cleaning staff work transparently, reliably, and on invoice. You decide which areas need to be cleaned and how often or how long the support is needed—whether once or regularly. There is a note field in our online booking system. There you can leave the most important information, e.g., the size of your apartment and what exactly needs to be done.

As a general rule, it always helps to discuss your expectations transparently with your domestic helper or cleaner in advance.

When should I book a regular cleaning and when should I book a one-off cleaning?

If the following criteria are met, you should book regular cleaning:

  • At least one order per month
  • Long-term planning (e.g., at least two to three months)

In all other cases, your order will be considered a one-off.

What are the cancellation terms if the service isn't right for me?

You can, of course, cancel your booking. Our terms of use.

As a rule, cancellation is free of charge up to 24 hours before the agreed appointment. After that, 50% of the booked invoice amount will be charged. For very short-notice cancellations, four hours before the start of the booking, 100% of the invoice amount will be due. Ultimately, your helper has made a binding commitment to the appointment and cannot compensate for the loss of earnings at such short notice.

Important to know:
Payment is always made after the service has been provided and based on the time actually worked. No advance payment is due for the service itself.

And just as important:
If you realize that it's not quite the right fit, either professionally or personally, that doesn't have to mean a definitive no to the service. Sometimes, another helper is simply a better match. Feel free to contact us—we'll help you find a suitable solution.

How much does domestic help or cleaning cost at Helferei?

The cost of domestic help depends on the service and the city. Prices vary depending on the service (e.g., one-time/regular, experienced/regular) and location—prices in Munich differ from those in other German cities.

You can find a complete and up-to-date price list for private individuals on our homepage under Services. The current hourly rates are listed there transparently. Prices for corporate customers can be found on our business page.

The price is composed as follows:

  • The hourly rate for the service you booked multiplied by the duration you selected.
  • A one-time booking and agency fee of €3.90 for private individuals or €4.30 for commercial customers (including VAT).

The booking and agency fee is charged once after the first order for regular bookings.

Your estimated total price is clearly displayed during the online booking process. It adjusts automatically when you change the number of hours. However, the actual time worked is always decisive— you only pay after the job is completed and based on the actual hours worked.

How do I know how long it will take to clean my home?

Our experience shows the following guide values:

  • From 70 m2: approx. 2 - 2.5 hours
  • From 100 m2: 4 hours or more so that you are satisfied with the result

As mentioned, these are guidelines. They may vary depending on individual circumstances: for example, if you only want a very superficial cleaning of selected areas in your home, it will not necessarily take 4 hours, even for 100m2. However, a deep cleaning may take more than 4 hours.

What do I do if I don't know in advance exactly how long my cleaning will take?

That's no problem at all— the invoice is always based on the actual duration of the order. So you don't have to pay for time that wasn't worked.

However, this requires your cooperation.

  • After completing an order , both you and your helper have 24 hours to adjust the booking duration on our platform to the actual order duration.
  • To do this, click on the respective booking in your Helferei and then on the pencil icon "Change booking."

Only after 24 hours is the invoice automatically generated from the booking and payment triggered.

I need a housekeeper for one hour—why can I only book 1.5 hours or more?

The minimum booking duration for a domestic helper at Helferei 1.5 hours. This minimum duration serves to ensure quality assurance and fair working conditions for our cleaning staff.

Why is there a minimum booking of 1.5 hours?

Fair conditions for helpers:
Our cleaners plan their travel, preparation, and work in advance. You will not be charged for travel time. To ensure that the work is worthwhile for both sides, a minimum duration is required.

High-quality cleaning
Certain tasks require a certain amount of time regardless of the size of the apartment—such as preparing cleaning supplies, systematically cleaning the bathroom or kitchen, or drying mopped floors. In many cases, one hour is not enough to ensure thorough cleaning.

Local placement
We make sure to place helpers as close to their place of residence as possible—especially in cities such as Berlin and Munich. Nevertheless, travel distances may arise that need to be taken into account in the organization.

The minimum booking time of 1.5 hours ensures that you receive a professional, structured, and fairly organized cleaning service.

What exactly is a "particularly experienced cleaner"?

Through Helferei , you Helferei find a particularly experienced cleaner . These are quality-tested domestic helpers who stand out thanks to their above-average experience and consistently excellent customer reviews, and who can benefit from higher hourly pay.

The selection is based on clearly defined, objective quality criteria—not on self-assessment.

A particularly experienced cleaner meets the following requirements:

  • At least 50 successfully completed cleaning jobs via the Helferei
  • Very high customer satisfaction in the long term
  • At least 90% 5-star ratings

Only cleaning staff who meet these criteria are included in this category. The "particularly experienced" seal cannot be awarded independently, but is based exclusively on measurable performance and proven reliability.

You book a professional, experienced domestic helper with extensive practical experience. Particularly experienced cleaners quickly recognize typical routines, work in a structured manner, and can usually efficiently assess your living situation without lengthy instructions.

Will I receive an invoice?

You will receive Helferei invoice for all orders placed with Helferei . This allows you to deduct up to 20 percent of your expenses for household-related or skilled trade services at the end of the year. This reduces your total tax liability – not just your income tax – by this amount.

You will find the invoice two days after completing your order in your profile under the "Documents" tab. It serves as proof for claiming your expenses for tax purposes. You can submit it to the tax office with your tax return.

Does my health insurance cover the cost of domestic help or cleaning services from Helferei?

Yes, billing through health insurance is generally possible. Helferei its own institution code (IK) and offers domestic help in accordance with § 38 SGB V. We already work with various statutory health insurance providers.

What does that mean specifically?

We operate as a non-contractual organization and are permitted to provide services that are recognized and reimbursed by statutory health insurance funds. This includes, in particular, cases in which insured persons are entitled to domestic help due to illness, hospitalization, or special family circumstances, such as after childbirth.

It is important to note that:

  • Thefinal decision on who will cover the costs is always made by your health insurance provider.
  • Prior consultation and approval is therefore mandatory.

In practice, costs have been covered in all cases submitted to date—especially when the medical necessity was clearly documented or the desired domestic help was named in advance.

Please note: It is Helferei not possible to settle the so-called relief amount (according to § 45b SGB XI) via Helferei .
